Thank you for your interest in applying for a Deepwater Experiential Education Project scholarship.

Applications are accepted between November 30th and March 30th and are reviewed by a selection committee four times each year. Funds are awarded on a rolling first-come, first-served basis. Awards are made based on the resources available in a given funding cycle as well as the merit of and need demonstrated by the applicant.

DEEP funds are awarded for applicants wishing to participate in a wilderness program with Northwaters & Langskib.  Please make sure that you apply to Northwaters or Langskib at the same time as you apply for DEEP funding.

To be awarded a scholarship, applicants must demonstrate:

  • Financial need

  • Keen interest in gaining leadership skills and experience

  • Willingness and ability to make strong contributions to the program they attend

  • Desire to take lessons from their experience home to positively contribute to their own communities

In order to be reviewed by the scholarship selection committee, all parts of the application and supporting documentation must be received. Completed applications are reviewed four times in the late winter/early spring. A complete application includes:

  • Completed application form with responses from applicant and parent(s)

  • Answers to profile questions listed on the application

  • Complete financial information as requested on application (including proof of income as outlined below)

  • Recommendation from a non-related adult mentor who is willing to meet with applicant both before and after the program

Financial Criteria: 


Applicants can choose one of two ways to present their financial information:

1. 2020 Tax return/T4 (for each parent)


2. 2019 Tax return/T4 and a current W2 (US) or Notice of Assessment (Canada)
