DEEP scholarships support two wilderness education programs: Northwaters and Langskib. We believe that Northwaters and Langskib combine creative and positive approaches to community building, rite of passage experiences, use of metaphor, mentoring, and connection with the natural world to provide youth with meaningful experiences.
Canoe camp is just the beginning... At Northwaters and Langskib we offer wilderness adventures designed to engage and empower young people at a given stage in adolescent development. Within the context of a fun and challenging canoe trip, we use proven techniques in community building, group process, experiential learning and storytelling to create a pathway through adolescence. This approach makes us unique among wilderness adventure camps.
Langskib is our boys canoe camp, Northwaters is home to our girls camp and coed/all-gender camp. They are both located on remote islands in the heart of Ontario's 4-million acre Temagami Wilderness. Working together, we have the advantages of a large organization while being able to limit program size to ensure a quality experience.
We have worked for 50 years to build a strong, thoughtful community of directors, staff, participants, parents and alumni. Together we have created intentional programs which have won international recognition for experiential learning and the development of young leaders. We invite you to explore the links for specific program information and encourage you to contact us as the first steps in the adventure of a lifetime.
